A Study on Nurses¢¥ Apostrophe Attitudes toward Dimensions of Nursing Practice


Abstract
This study was to offer data for in service education in nursing by examining nurses¢¥ apostrophe attitudes toward dimensions of nursing practice and relationship between them and general characteristics.
An attitudinal instrument developed by Jean C. Bradley was administered to 85 nurses sampled by stratified random sampling method among nurses working at 6 general hospitals in Pusan, during the period of December 12th to 24th, 1983.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. As for the general characteristics:
1) Educational background was that associate degree was 72. 94%, bachelor was 16.47% and master was 10.59%.
2) Clinical experience was that 31.77% were above 3 years, 25. 88% were 2 to 3 years, 23.53% were 1 to 2 years, and 18.82% were blow 1 year.
3) Job satisfaction was that 57.65% were satisfied more or less, 31.7% were unsatisfied, and 10.59% were satisfied.
4) Job position was that general nurse was 68.24%, charge nurse was 16.47%, head nurse was 9.41% and nursing supervisor was 5.88%.
2. Nurses¢¥ attitudes toward nursing practice were, high score above 3.00 per each item.
3. Education background, clinical experience, and job satisfaction didn¢¥t reveal significant difference in attitudes toward nursing factor A (p>. 05), while job position revealed sgnificant difference (p<. 05).
Therefore hypothesis 1)-1, 2, and 3 were not accepted, 1)-4 was accepted.
4. Educational background and clinical experience didn¢¥t reveal significant difference in attitudes toward leadership (p>.05), while job satisfaction and job position revealed significant difference (p<.05).
Therefore hypothesis 2)-1 and 2 were not accepted, 2)-3 and 4 were accepted.
5. Clinical experience and job position didn¢¥t reveal significant difference in attitudes toward research (p>.05), while educational background and job satisfaction revealed significant difference (p<.05) .
Therefore hypothesis 3)-2 and 4 were not accepted, 3)-1 and 3 were accepted.
